Android 15 is finally rolling out for select devices! After months of development, which started in February, the update is making its way to users—starting with Google’s Pixel phones. If you’re waiting for the latest Android version, you might not have to wait long.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Android 15 release and which phones will be eligible for the update.

Android 15 Release Phases

Like previous versions, Android 15 went through three main phases: developer preview, public beta testing, and the final release.

  • Developer Preview (Feb 16, 2024): This phase gave app developers an early look at Android 15’s new features to prepare their apps.
  • Public Beta (April 11, 2024): Open to the public, this phase allowed beta testers to explore the update and report bugs, which helped Google shape the final version.
  • Final Release (Oct 15, 2024): Android 15 began rolling out, with Pixel devices receiving it first, as is tradition with Google phones.

  • Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
